A walk around the Battlefield site

Index

Roundway Down, the site of the Civil war battle of 1643, boasts magnificent views over the Wiltshire Countryside and is home to the Devizes Millennium White horse, a nature reserve and tree plantation.

Whether you have an hour or a whole day to spare, it really is possible to loose yourself within this wonderful walking terrain. Discover Roundway Covert Nature Reserve - A 68 acre broadleaf woodland, mostly of ash, beautifully maintained by The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
The 11 acre Leipzig Plantation is a favourite local beauty spot, and the newest addition to the Wiltshire white horses 'The Millennium Horse' was erected here in 1999. Combined these with a walk around the Civil War Battle site and you will witness some of the most spectacular scenery in the county!

The link below shows a walk around the Battlefield site following 6 Waymark points. The entire walk around the Battlefield site will take between 2 and 3 hours. However, various shorter routes are outlined, enabling the walk to be adapted - You can choose your route and the length of your walk to take in as much or as little of Roundway Down as you like. The walk starts and ends from the car park.
